Let’s talk about something that hits home for a lot of people: falling off track.
Whether it’s your workouts, your routine, your mindset—or even your creative projects like mine—it’s easy to slip into a rhythm of doing nothing. And once that rhythm sets in, it gets more and more comfortable to stay there.
I hadn’t recorded a podcast in weeks. Each time I didn’t hit record, it got easier to not plan, not edit, not publish. Life just kept moving forward, and I let it. But recently, I decided to break that cycle—and I shared the whole story in a new episode of my fitness podcast.

The Most Popular Excuse? “I Don’t Have Time.”
As a gym owner at BayWay CrossFit in Baytown, I hear this excuse almost daily: “I just don’t have time.” And honestly, I say it myself.
On paper, my days are slammed. I run a business. I’m up at 4 a.m. and at the gym by 5. I coach classes, manage operations, and bring my infant with me to work. My older kids are in jiu-jitsu, soccer, and football—and I coach the soccer team too. It’s a lot.
So yeah, when I say “I don’t have time,” people nod and say, “Man, I don’t know how you do it.”
But if I’m being honest, I do have time. I just choose to use it in other ways. There are gaps in my day—times when I could train, or record a podcast, or stretch, or prep food—but I don’t. And that’s on me.
Breaking the Cycle is Easier Than You Think
You don’t need a Monday start date.
You don’t need a 30-day plan.
You don’t need motivation.
You just need to do something.
For me, it was pressing record on my podcast. And the second I did, I remembered—I actually like this. I like connecting. I like the idea that maybe someone else hears it and goes, “Okay, I’m going to break my cycle today too.”
Whether it’s getting back to your workouts, returning to your meal prep, or just walking into the gym again—action beats excuses.
If You’ve Fallen Off Track, You’re Not Alone
This blog isn’t about guilt. It’s about real life. Everyone—everyone—goes through dips in motivation, missed workouts, busy seasons, and excuses that feel valid.
But if you’re looking for a sign to get back on track—this is it.
