August 2014

What is your sport and fitness background?

I was always very active as a kid growing up but never played sports, other than being a freshmen cheerleader. It wasn’t until 2013 I realized I need to change my lifestyle, my weight gain and diet was horrible, I was fat and unhealthy. So I started in my garage for a few months with 3lbs & 5lbs dumbbells that literally killed me! I continued my journey onto a 3 day BootCamp for 2 months before joining CrossFIt.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD…what was it, and how did it feel?

My first exposure to CrossFit was with a best friend of mine basically dragging me into a free 3 day trial. I was so scared and nervous it felt like the first day of High School. The WOD was tough and everything was very foreign to me. I thought to myself there is no way I can do this or even figure this out, what are they talking about!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit? (before/after)

First starting CrossFit was a bit awkward, I was weak and out of shape but ready to put in the work. Being at Bayway CrossFit I have gained muscle and have muscle definition along with fat loss. Everyday I am gaining strength, endurance, getting better and stronger.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?

Ever since joining CrossFit I have change my whole way of looking at health and fitness. Eating right is a key role to achieve your fitness and weight loss goals. If you do not eat properly you will not perform properly. “Treat your body good because you only have one to live in!”

Share with us any favorite CrossFit/BayWay CrossFit moments?

Watching our Coach Richard Andrews compete in 2015 Regionals was the highlight of the year!!! Our in house PR Challenge was an awesome experience, it got me comfortable with the bar. All the holiday gatherings are always a lot of fun, it brings everyone together!

Any advice for people just getting started?

Anything new is scary and everyone feels the same when they first start. Just jump into it and give it all you got, you will develop a passion very quick! Ask questions everyone is there to help!

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?

I love to help others with their nutrition tips and meal ideas but I am no Nutritionist. I also enjoy bodybuilding MAYBE one day I will compete. My family and I also enjoy any outside activities, hiking, biking and starting to pick up on fishing!
