Practice Simple Mind Training

Whether you are wanting to be a competitive athlete or just looking to improve your fitness having a strong mind is very important. I have always been a decent athlete but was never ever to reach the level I wanted. I made few small changes in my training this year and was able to qualify for the CrossFit Games South Regional. One of those things was training my mind. It sounds silly, and if you would have told me last year that I would be meditating 10 minutes a day and doing Yoga 2 or 3 times a week I would have laughed at you. If you asked Dennis, one of my partners and training partners, he would tell you my biggest weakness is my negative self talk. I’d doubt myself before and during workouts constantly thinking I wasn’t able to do it. I don’t sit at my desk and hum and I don’t go to a Yoga studio. I do it all from my phone. I use an app called Headspace and I follow ROMWOD programming 2-3 times a week. Doing these things has taught me to focus on my task and keep moving during workouts. I have only been practicing with ROMWOD since March/April and Headspace since February but I am excited to see how my training goes over the next year with these tools.
