Injuries are not the norm—and they shouldn’t be. At BayWay CrossFit, we build strong, resilient athletes by focusing on smart, consistent training. But if you’re putting in the work—3 to 4 workouts per week, over 150 sessions a year—it’s realistic to expect a few bumps along the way. That doesn’t mean something is wrong. It just means you’re moving your body, growing, and sometimes adapting. So when someone online sees a post about a minor knee tweak and comments, “That’s why I don’t do CrossFit,” we have to laugh a little. Because chances are, they don’t do any exercise at all. Meanwhile, our members are stacking hundreds of workouts a year, improving their health, confidence, and longevity in the process. In our latest podcast episode, Richard breaks down exactly what to do when injury does show up—and how the comeback is often stronger than the original plan. 🎧 Listen to the full episode here:👉 The Comeback > The Setback –...

Let’s be honest—summer has a way of messing with our routine. Vacations, BBQs, longer days, later nights… before you know it, you’re skipping workouts, reaching for quick snacks instead of real meals, and telling yourself, “I’ll get back on track next week.” Sound familiar? You’re not alone. We see it every year at BayWay CrossFit. But here’s the truth: You don’t need to be perfect—you just need to keep showing up. There’s a line from Paradise Lost by John Milton that’s been stuck in my head lately:“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.” That quote hits hard — especially when life feels heavy. We all go through seasons where stress, self-doubt, and pressure make it feel like the world is stacked against us. For me, these past few weeks have been just that. But I’ve also been reminded that inside the walls of a gym or on a jiujitsu mat, you can take that weight and turn it into something powerful. At BayWay CrossFit, we see this every day. Members show up with the weight of the world on their shoulders — work stress, family chaos, personal struggles — and they leave just a little lighter. Not because their problems disappeared, but because they chose to lean in, move their body, and...

At BayWay CrossFit, one of the top gyms in Baytown, we talk a lot about consistency, effort, and training hard. But there’s something else quietly holding many people back from reaching their fitness goals. And it’s not what most expect. The Hidden Problem? Undereating. We hear it all the time: “I barely eat, but I can’t lose weight.” Or, “I’m working out more, so I’m eating less to speed things up.” Here’s the truth: constantly under-eating can actually stall fat loss, slow your metabolism, hurt your recovery, and make you feel exhausted. Your body needs fuel to perform, recover, and burn fat effectively—especially when you’re training at one of the most effective CrossFit gyms in Baytown. Why Undereating Backfires: Slows down your metabolism Increases muscle breakdown (hurts strength gains) Increases fatigue and poor workout performance Triggers cravings and binge cycles Impacts hormones, sleep, and overall mood How Much Should You Eat? Most active adults...
