What is your sport and fitness background?
I ran track in high school and was pretty competitive, may still have a record or two up. In college I became a gym rat and cycling enthusiast. With a basic nutrition plan from total nutrition.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD…what was it, and how did it feel?
A gym date! I worked out with a young lady and thought I could show her what was what… she destroyed me. It was Strict press, air squat, push ups, and I believe some heavy rope training. At the time I thought I was pretty strong and in shape too.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit? (before/after)
Well my eating and overall health has never been bad but I definitely feel great. No doubt I am in the best shape of my life, and I feel myself improving… watch out Rich!
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
There has not anything too unexpected – not counting extreme soreness and the occasional throwing up (weakness leaving the body). My life has definitely changed these past couple months, however this is due mostly to moving back to Houston after graduating.
Share with us any favorite CrossFit/BayWay CrossFit moments?
Ring dips, squats, pull ups, clings, and hook grip (how to look good naked 101)
Any advice for people just getting started?
Its mind over matter. The workouts are scaled to what you can do. Everyone is going to be sore, and everyone feels like stopping at some point!
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Traveling, Dancing, Music, Friends, Family, Swimming, Beer and Liqueur, Taco Tuesday, Thirsty Thursdays, and napping.
